Berggruen Holdings is the investment vehicle of The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Trust. Over the last 20 years, Berggruen Holdings has made well over 100 investments using its own proprietary capital, which has allowed for longer investment horizons, flexibility in financing, and swift investment decisions. Nicolas Berggruen is the Chairman of Berggruen Holdings.
At Berggruen Holdings we work closely with our management teams, developers, and asset managers to identify appropriate investment opportunities with few requirements except for positive cash flow. It is this strategy that has allowed Berggruen Holdings to successfully invest globally across asset classes. The Berggruen Group has offices in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Netherlands, Istanbul, Mumbai, and Tel Aviv.
The Berggruen Institute was founded in 2010 with a mission to develop foundational ideas, and through them, shape the political and social institutions for the 21st century. In the age of technology and globalization—when our traditions are being challenged, new social orders are emerging, and political institutions are faltering—critical analysis of our most fundamental beliefs and the systems on which they are founded is required.
The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Trust is intended to support charitable activities by enriching society and culture, by supporting the arts, and by encouraging the study and design of good governance systems through the Berggruen Institute and other charities.
The Museum Berggruen Berlin, belonging to the Prussian Heritage Foundation, presents exceptional works of classic modern art amassed by Heinz Berggruen. Included among the artists are Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti and Henri Matisse.
