Berggruen Holdings is the direct investment vehicle of The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Trust. Over the last 20 years, Berggruen Holdings and related entities have made well over 100 direct investments using its proprietary capital, which allows for longer investment horizons, flexibility in financing and swift investment decisions. Nicolas Berggruen is the Chairman of the Board of Berggruen Holdings.
Berggruen Holdings works closely with existing management teams, developers and asset managers to identify appropriate investment opportunities, with few requirements except for positive cash flow. It is this strategy that allows Berggruen Holdings to successfully invest globally across asset classes. The Berggruen Group has offices in New York, L.A., Berlin, Istanbul, Mumbai and Tel Aviv.
The Berggruen Institute was founded in 2010 with a mission to develop foundational ideas, and through them, shape the political and social institutions for the 21st century. In the age of technology and globalization, when our traditions are challenged, new social orders are emerging and political institutions falter, critical analysis of our most fundamental beliefs and the systems founded on them is required.
The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Trust is intended to support charitable activities by enriching society and culture, by supporting the arts, and by encouraging the study and design of systems of good governance through the Nicolas Berggruen Institute.
The Museum Berggruen Berlin, belonging to the Prussian heritage Foundation, presents exceptional works of classic modern art, collected by Heinz Berggruen. Included among the artists are Picasso, Klee, Giacometti and Matisse.
