Car Club was incorporated in April 2007 to provide services in car rental and staff transportation. The Company offers Chauffeur Drive and Self Drive facilities for business and personal travel. It is backed by a panel of industry experts, an impressive fleet of cars and a state-of-the art technology. Car Club currently operates in 18 cities in India including Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh & Coimbatore and will soon expand to 20 more cities through franchisees by 2012.
In November 2008, Car Club also started a staff transportation business (People Logistics) to cater to the additional needs of some of Car Club’s existing clients. This business allows Car Club to leverage off its existing network and infrastructure and build a sustainable business model with minimum additional costs.
People Logistics has 30 clients and caters to around 6,500 employees with 500 cars daily operating under the brand name “Select Cabs”. The People Logistics business currently has operations in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi and Hyderabad. They plan to expand to Kolkata in the near future along with other cities where Car Club has presence. All cars are outsourced ensuring minimum equity requirement resulting in high profitability and ROEs.
Car Club owns about 450 cars and operates 1500 cars including vendor cars ranging from the Economy to the Super Luxury range and includes cars from Ford, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Mercedes and BMW. The owned fleet size is estimated to grow to 675 cars by the financial year end.
Car Club’s list of clients includes IBM, Dell, Capgemini, ABB, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Mckinsey, Barclays, HSBC, Symantech Corporation, British Petroleum, Castrol, Shell, Qualcomm, Caltex, Bosch, Bank of America, Motorola, Air Tel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone, Wipro Technologies, EI Dupont, Tata Power, Larsen & Toubro, HCL Technologies, to name a few. It is in the process of signing up contracts with Accenture, Nokia Siemens, Agilent Technologies, and hotels such as Westin (3 hotels), Lemon Tree (2 sites), Ibis (2 sites), Renaissance and Fortune for long term and spot rentals.
The company currently has about 200 employees across India.
