Renewable Energy Source Projects
During 2007, Berggruen Holdings decided to invest in the renewable energy sector in Turkey, choosing hydro electric and wind power as the initial entry to the sector.
BH first bought the majority of a hydroelectric company with three licenses in river-type hydropower plants. Following this acquisition, another company with three other applications for river-type hydropower plants was purchased.
BH continued to implement its strategy by acquiring 13 companies with 18 wind power projects.
For its first phase of investments, BH strategically plans to reach an installed capacity of 1000 MW and to be the industry leader in wind power, specifically in Çanakkale and the Southern Marmara region in the near future.
BH continues to seek new as well as complimentary investment opportunities in the Turkish energy sector.
